Avita Medical Limited is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:AVH). The company develops and distributes products in Regenerative and Respiratory Medicine. It was fromed via teh merger of Visiomed Group and Clinical Cell Culture in 2007.


The company's regenerative and tissue-engineered products provide revolutionary solutions utilising the patient's own skin and the regenerative capability of the human body to treat a wide range of wounds, scars and skin defects.

ReCell® is a stand-alone, rapid cell harvesting device that enables surgeons to treat skin defects using the patient's own cells.
The surgeon can prepare a small quantity of cells within 30 minutes on site replacing the current technique of skin grafting or the requirement to send a biopsy to the laboratory for culture. ReCell® has been designed for use in a wide variety of burns, plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.ReCell® is gaining acceptance in a number of indications including Vitiligo, a common skin pigmentation disease. ReCell® is patented, CE marked for the EU and TGA registered in Australia. As of June 30, 2009, a clinical trial was being conducted at a number of sites in the United States and Europe as part of the process to obtain regulatory approval for ReCell in the United States


Medical technologies for improved medication delivery and adherence in patients suffering from chronic respiratory diseases. The company manufactures and sells a range of spacers for the paediatric, adolescent and adult market and is the leading provider of spacers in Australia. Key respiratory products include the Funhaler® incentive asthma spacer designed specifically for the paediatric market. The Funhaler incorporate auditory and visual incentives to encourage children to comply with their medication plan and has been clinically demonstrated to improve compliance to prescribed medication and increase proper inhalation technique. The Funhaler® is patented, CE marked for the EU, FDA cleared for the US and TGA registered in Australia. Breath-A-Tech is the leading spacer for adolescents and adults in Australia. The product is effective, compact, easy to use and competitively priced. The Breath-A-Tech hospital-grade spacer can also be autoclaved in the hospital or clinical setting.


Directors/Management of note:
Clinical Professor Fiona Wood has been involved in a number of education and disaster response programs associated with her interest in burns and has published a variety of papers over the years. In addition, she has been the recipient of the 2003 Australian Medical Association "Contribution to Medicine" award and an Order of Australia Medal for her work with Bali bombing victims. Professor Wood was named West Australian of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and was named as Australian of the Year in 2005.


Dr William Dolphin, CEO, holds a PhD in biophysics obtained from Boston University in 1989. He held appointments as Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Biology at Boston University and served as President and Chief Technology Officer of a US-based contract research and development company. Dr Dolphin was subsequently the President, CEO and Chairman of a US medical device company. In 2003 Dr Dolphin relocated to New Zealand and was CEO of a technology joint venture. Dr Dolphin has served as a director of numerous companies in the US, NZ and Australia, is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles, holds five US and international patents and was twice recipient of the National Research Service Award from the US National Institutes of Health.
