Company Profile

Immuron is a publicly traded Australian biotechnology company (ASX: IMC; OTCQX: IMROY) with proprietary commercial biotechnology for producing oral immunotherapeutic products.

The commercial and pipeline products contain naturally occurring antigen targeted antibodies and other proteins, to address a range of gastrointestinal, infectious and immune- mediated diseases. The antibody-containing products target diseases, including:

 - HIV/AIDS
 - Gastrointestinal Mucositis related to cancer
 - Metabolic Syndrome and Type II Diabetes
 - Hepatitis C and Liver Cancer
 - Gastrointestinal infections from: C. difficile, E. coli, Rotavirus

Influenza Antibodies are another area of investigation. As an exmaple: oral antibody spray delivery to upper airway for topical action to bind flu virus

Product Example:

One example product is Travelan™: an Oral caplet containing antibodies to Enterotoxigenic E. coli bacteria (ETEC) for travellers’ Diarrhoea.

Scientific Background: Travellers’ Diarrhoea, most commonly caused by Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) (Robins-Browne 2006), is a major problem for travelers to tropical regions. Anadis’ Travelan™ anti-ETEC antibody-containing caplet is taken regularly while a traveler is in a risky situation to prevent Travellers’ Diarrhoea.

Antibodies against outer bacterial structures found in the formulation have been shown in several placebo controlled clinical trials to prevent Travellers’ Diarrhoea caused by ETEC. These bacteria-specific antibodies block the attachment of Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) to the mucosal cells of the small intestine so the bacteria cannot introduce damaging toxins into these cells.

Travelan is marketed globally by Immuron and is licensed for U.S. marketing to Alaven Consumer Health. U.S. sales were initiated on March 2009.
