Progen Pharmaceuticals Limited (Progen), is engaged in the research and development of small molecule pharmaceuticals, including heparanase inhibitors, that are potent and selective inhibitors of carbohydrate-protein interactions implicated in a range of disease states.
The Company is committed to the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule therapeutics primarily for the treatment of cancer.
The Company’s three cancer platforms target different aspects of the biology of cancer, such as epigenetics, angiogenesis and cell proliferation.
In February 2008, the Company acquired CellGate, Inc., a Californian based oncology drug development Company
Clinical trials:
Phase 2 trial for PI-88 for muparfostat in metastatic melanoma.
Phase 1a trial for PG11047 is completed and work has started to plan Phase 2 programs investigating PG11047 in indications such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer and prostate cancer.
