Universal Biosensors, Inc. (Universal Biosensors) is a medical diagnostics company focused on the development, manufacture and commercialization of in vitro diagnostic test devices for point-of-care use. The company has signed a blood glucose diagnostic product agreements with LifeScan, Inc. which is a a Johnson & Johnson company. The company is prediucting approx. A$25m UBI revenue forecast in the 12 months from regulatory approval (2010).
The diagnostic blood test devices it is developing consists a disposable test strip and a reusable meter. Each of the tests Universal Biosensors has developed, or is developing, utilize an electrochemical cell at the end of the test strip. The technology has a range of point-of-care blood tests in development, including a C-reactive protein test, D-dimer test and prothrombin time test (anticoagulation related products).
